The Vice President Dr. Alhaji Mamudu Bawumia together with the Information Minister Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Inspector General of Police George Akufo Dampare, Hon Ambrose Derry the Interior Minister, Hon. Abu Gyinapo lands and Natural Resources Minister and his Deputy Hon. Mireku Duka, the Regional Minister Kobby Okyere Darko Mensah, Chairperson for Minerals Commission, adviser to the national security, Municipal Chief Executive of Tarkwa Nsuem Hon. Benjamin Kesse, MCE of Amenfi East Hon. Korankye, office of the vice president Hon. Fred Oware, MCE Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Dr. Isaac Dasmani visited the accident scene to observe the situation at hand. They also visited the victims at the hospital and those who have been displaced.
H.E. Alhaji Mamudu Bawumia expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and wished those at the hospital a speedy recovery. He promised those on admission that all their medical bills will be paid by the government. The vice president also donated items comprising of rice, mattress, cooking oil, dresses, mosquito net, blankets, soaps, and many more to the victims. An amount of Two hundred thousand Ghana cedis(200,000) was presented to the victims through the MCE of Prestea Huni Valley municipal to cater for their financial upkeep. The vice president assured the victims that the state housing company will come and assess the situation and construct a befitting house for the victims. In all a total of thirteen (13) people died, there were one hundred and ninety casualties (190) of which 36 are on admission, Ninety-Six (96) have been discharged and 45 have been referred to other hospitals( Afiankwanta 1, Komfo Anokye 4 and Tarkwa 40).
A total of Three Hundred and Forty-Eight (348) have been displaced and are lodging at the Roman Catholic parish hall. Of those 176 are adults and 163 are children. The chief of the Beppo Divisional area Nana Kwaku Brembi expressed appreciation to the President and the vice president and his entourage for personally coming to sympathize with them.
