MCE VISITS FLOOD-PRONE IN THE MUNICIPALITY

Following a heavy downpour in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipal six days ago, the Ankobra, Bogo, and the Mansion rivers overflowed their banks destroying several buildings and properties at Prestea Ankobra, Dwabeng, Bogoso, and Prestea Himan among others in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipal.

On Tuesday 21 st June 2022 the Municipal Chief Executive of Prestea Huni Valley Municipal Assembly Dr. Isaac Dasmani (Ph.D.,) paid a working visit to the affected communities to console the people and their Chiefs.

Addressing the media Hon Isaac Dasmani (PhD) entreated the people to desist from building in a water-logged area. He said, most individuals take adv of the dry season and build in water log areas knowing that the land is a water-logged area. He underscored that they were going to desilt some of the gutters to help pave way for water to pass through. He also promised to fix the bridges that have been broken down.

Hon Alexander Baako (Assemblyman Himan electoral area ) said that the river (Ankobra) started over following its banks in the last six days which has destroyed many buildings and left many people homeless. He urged the government to help desilt the drainage to allow the water to follow.

The divisional chief of Himan – Prestea traditional area Nana Nteboah Prah iv promised to help to desilt the drainage. He urged the physical planning and the works department of the assembly to stop all individuals who built closer to the river. Nana urged the MCE to seek support from the future global resources to help spray the affected area to help prevent snakes,
other animals, and diseases after the flood.
