GOLDFIELDS GHANA FOUNDATION COMMISSION'S THREE 3 UNIT CLASSROOM BLOCK FOR ST. PETER AND PAUL ANGLICAN PRIMARY SCHOOL AT ENIMILKROM

The Goldfields Ghana Lmt, Damang mine under the Goldfields Ghana foundation has commissioned a three units classroom block for the pupils of St. Peter and Paul Anglican Primary School at Enimilkrom in the Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal.

Speaking to the people in a short ceremoney, the Community Affairs Manager of Goldfields Ghana Limited (Damang mine) Mr. Razark Abdul-Yakubu explained that, the Gold fields Ghana Foundation was established from Goldfields Ghana limited some years back with the aim to help the communities that has leased their lands to the company for mining activities, with infrastructural and other developmental projects from the little profit made by the company through the mining business. The foundation do supports sectors like Health, Education, Agriculture and others. He added that they were very much concern on Education because it was assumed that even if the company is no more existing, the many
people who have benefited from their educational policies and projects would still remember the company for the good work done to their life. He emphasized that, in 2022 they spent 12 million dollars on projects and other policies. 44% of this money was spent on education alone, he added. Again Mr Razark said 1.7 million dollars was spent on projects this year. He stressed that the company is not concerned about the amount of money spent but it is the outcome that matters most to them. “I am proud to say that, our sister Patience Yamoah who benefited through our educational policy has graduated from medical school and ready to start work to serve the nation and her Community, this is one of the hundreds of people who have benefited from our foundation”, he said. He thanked the contractors and all stakeholders who made this project a reality especially the Municipal Assembly for their support. ” We didn’t only put up a structure but rather provided them with furniture together with teaching and learning materials for proper learning environment”, he concluded.

Nana Kwabena Amponsah (IV), the Chief of Bosomtwe Division expressed his sincere thanks to the Assembly members and his Unit Committee members, the Educational Director and to the Goldfields Ghana Foundation for such a beautiful edifice, He commended the effort of all stakeholders who help in lobbying for this school block. As Oliver Thwist always ask for more, he appealed to the foundation to once again help them finish the JHS block and also pleaded to the students, teachers and the entire Community to take good care of the infrastructure in other to encourage the foundation for coming to their aid again.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Prestea Huni-Valley Dr. Isaac Dasmani PHD, urged all to take
Education seriously.” We have gotten to this hight because of education, it doesn’t matter where you
come from education can take you far”, he added.He said education has both private and social returns,
what you intend to gain personally from education is your private returns and what the society benefits

from you is a social returns. He thanked Goldfields Ghana Foundation for their continues support to the Municipality through education, health agriculture and others. H also call on everyone not to use the place as sleeping yard but to make good use of the facility to help in the proper nurturing of our wards, he added.

Municipal Director of Education Mr Sabastian Atrama Diaw first of all express his heart felt gratitude to Goldfields Ghana Foundation for appreciating the need to help this school with three (3) units classroom
block. He urged the community to disist from using the school facility as funeral grounds and for other non-educational purposes. He pleaded with them to take good care of this facility instead. He assured everyone that, the educational Directorate and the teaching committee will do their possible best to make sure the structure will be properly used to improve teaching and learning in other to meets the president’s aim of giving every single Ghanaian child education, he concluded.
