PRESTEA HUNI-VALLEY MUNICIPAL HOLDS ITS SECOND ORDINARY GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING

Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Assembly on 4th November 2021 held a second ordinary meeting at the Municipal Assembly Hall. On the floor of the assembly, Hon Isaac Dasmani (Ph.D.) in his seasonal address expressed his appreciation and extended his gratitude to the Hon members for massively confirming him as the M.C.E for the municipality and also urged them to work together to promote rapid socio-economic development in the municipality.

On security, He stated that the municipality was calm and peaceful since the beginning of the year to date. He also urged the Hon members and Chiefs to keep supporting the assembly to work together to maintain peace and order in the municipality. He emphasized the activities of illegal mining which are destroying our water bodies and forest. He entreats the Hon members to volunteer information on all illegal mining activities to help fight this menace to protect our natural forests and rivers in the municipality.

He added that the assembly has provided financial and material support for health care and its activities. Through the assemblies’ initiatives and support, the municipality has benefited from a polyclinic project which is gradually progressing. The project is expected to be completed in December this year. ON COVID19. The health directorate had received 24,690 doses of covid 19 vaccines from March to October this year which include AstraZeneca, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson. 14,618 people within the municipality have been fully vaccinated with at least a dose of the vaccine, out of 14,618 people vaccinated only 1,326 have fully vaccinated. Still, on health, the National malaria control program with stakeholders has provided a long-lasting insecticide net to control the spread of malaria in the municipality. As of this result, 147,135 one net for two persons in a household has been distributed in the municipality.

In other to improve and provide portable water in the community, Dr. Dasmani stressed that the assembly in collaboration with Tarkwa Goldfields and Global Communities Ghana (NGO) has undertaken a project called wash intervention projects at Huniso in the municipality.  They have also facilitated the training of water and sanitation management teams for five communities in the Goldfield catchments areas where 77 people were trained on water and its associated issues. He stated that the assembly has also repaired three broken down boreholes at Kurantin, Brayreaggya, and Nkran Dadieso. On sanitation, the project at Huniso will continue to provide 50 households with dignilos type toilet facility for the community. The M.C.E assured the Hon members that the municipality will be one of the cleanest municipalities, in the country.

Dr. Dasmani (Ph.D.) addressing the general assembly made it known to the august house that there are numerous numbers of the project is taking in the municipality. The education directorate in the municipality distributed 30 hexagonal tables with 6 chairs and 3NO, tables for selected communities also distributed 500 dual desks and 500 mono desks to some selected schools.

ON DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS. The Municipal has embarked on numerous numbers of projects of which some of them have been completed and some of them at various stages of completion

  1. Construction of a 6-unit classroom block with the office at Ayensukrom NO1.
  2. Civil/Earthworks/leveling, grading, and drainage work for the artisanal industrial site at Apiatse.
  3. Construction of CHPS compound, 2unit bedroom detached nurses’ quarters with mechanized borehole, overhead stand tank, and furniture at Yawkrom.
  4.  Construction of 3unit classroom block, library, staff common room head master’s office, and storeroom with furniture for RC lower primary at Bogoso

On agriculture, MCE said the municipality has been able to distribute 32,320 oil palm, 5,000 para rubber seedlings, 2,160 liters of subsidized esofert organic life liquid fertilizer, and 20 bags of Abontem seed to farmers. He added that the cocoa extension division in collaboration with the assembly was able to supply 806,000 cocoa seedlings and was distributed to the cocoa farmers in the municipality. He also stated that they were able to distribute 3,317 cartons of various fertilizers which include Okumkom, cocosett, and Vitazymes to the farmers. Over 1,235 cartons of various fertilizers which include Akatemaster, Akatewura, Okumakate, and Ameteurkaptain to the farmers. The department has also supplied metalm, Sidaco defender and Fungikill,1340 cartons to farmers in the municipality.
