RADIO SENSITIZATION ON RTI ACT 2019, (ACT 989) AT OYEEMAN FM (ABOSO).

The information Services department of Prestea hun-valley municipal assembly educated the public on Right to information Act 2019, (Act 989) at Oyeeman Fm located at Aboso on Wednesday February 9th, 2023.

The Act 989 was passed by parliament and assented to by the president on 21st may, 2019, the Act guarantees the general public access to information from public institutions and relevant private bodies.

The Officers took the opportunity to explained what RTI ACT is about, the importance of RTI, the key fact to know about RTI and processes involved in accessing information from public institution, The public were made known that, access to information is a right under article 21 paragraph (f) of clause (1) of the 1992 constitution of Ghana and the right to information law also empowers all persons to have access to information from public institution and private bodies in order to promote a culture of transparency and accountability.

Officers again highlighted that, the right to information helps us to enjoy and protect our fundamental freedoms, makes institutions more transparent, improves service delivery from government ministries
as well as department and agencies (MMDAs) and encourages public participation in matters that concern them, therefore everybody have the right to access information from any public or relevant private institution.

The general public were given the opportunity to express their views and share their contributions through a phone in segment. A caller also urge everyone to take part in searching for an information and encourage officers to keep on their good works.

Officers urge every individual in the municipality to make good use of the Right to information ACT.
