Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Assembly in collaboration with Local Management Committee (LMC) of the Mineral Development Fund (MDF) and FGR, on Friday, 26 th May, 2023 performed a sod cutting ceremony for the construction of Bogoso Fire Service Station and Social Event Center respectively at Bogoso the capital town of the Municipality to help provide an efficient fire services and social events and its related activities for the people of the Municipality.

Dignitaries present were The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Isaac Dasmani PhD, The Chief Director, Ministry of Interior, Mrs. Adelaide Annon-Nkum, The National Chief Fire Officer, Mr. Julius Kuunor, Acting Manager of FGR Mr. Ken Allen, Chief of Bogoso Nana Akwasi Somprey II and other sub chiefs, Reps from Christian Council and Muslim Council, Rep from various media houses and other distinguished guest.
Speaking at the occasion, Hon. Isaac Dasmani PhD the (MCE) made it clear that, the Assembly has encounter many challenges as far as firefighting is concern in this Municipality, a special thanks to the chiefs and the Municipal authorities for their contribution towards this achievement, throughout the year, we faced a lot of challenges in an attempt to get a site for such projects but through the good effort and togetherness of the chiefs, we are here today for this memorably events, a special thanks to FGR as well for taking upon themselves to finance the Social Events Center for the good people of Bogoso. Again the only fire station in the Municipality is at Prestea which is a bit far from Bogoso, therefore we decided to build the fire station here to help prevent a lot of fire outbreaks that mostly destroys properties within Bogoso and its enclaves, he added.

The rep for the interior minister who happen to be the Chief Director, Ministry of Interior, Mrs. Adelaide Annon-kumi, speaking to the gathering, said the discussion between the chiefs and other authorities behind the scene has resulted in the allocation of the huge plot of land for the construction the Fire Service Station and Training School and the president of republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo fully support the building of such project. Over the years, the protecting of lives and properties by the fire services has been citizen now have to be very cautious with fire precautions, we should not use generators and gas stoves in a confined area and also not to load overload socketscommendably, the as well as cigarette smokers must be very careful with their activities in order to help prevent the rampant fire outbreaks.
Address by the Chief Fire Officer, CFO Julius Kuunuor, this initiative to put up a Fire Station is indeed a remarkable achievement worth emulating, I therefore call on other Traditional Councils, Corporate Bodies and Individuals to also support the efforts of Government to put up a lot more Fire Stations across the country to ensure that the services offered by the Fire Services are brought closer to the people. Undesired Fires continue to cause significant loss to lives and properties in the country, this situation negatively affects the Country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and therefore, needs to be given greater attention.
Also speaking to the gathering, the Acting General Manager of FGR, Mr. Ken J Allen thanks the chiefs and authorities for providing a land and also making sure the land has been kept from encroachers till date, it therefore the need for Bogoso to have this edifice looking at the rapid growth of this township to help in all social invents and even political activities, the intended social center of this size is design to have a community center, a mini conference hall, volley ball court, children play ground, care-taker quarters, general store, restaurants and bar etc. we shall all witness the turnaround of this place in due cause, most of the resources needed to put up this project are in far advance to start the project soon after this sod cutting, we invite the youth of this town to offer their support and rally behind the stakeholders to make this project achievable, he concluded.
Nana Somprey the chief of Bogoso, took the opportunity to show his appreciation to all stakeholders, especially the Municipal Assembly, FGR and Government for their selfless efforts and support with all and sundry to make sure his longtime dream come to a reality this day and also urged all community members to rally their support behind this to be completed on time for the people of Bogoso.
