EC BEGINS LIMITED VOTER REGISTRATION EXERCISE NATIONWIDE.

The electoral commission of Ghana has started limited registration exercise across all district
within the country, this is as part of preparations towards the 2024 general election. The exercise is aimed to capture all citizens who have attained the age of 18years and beyond but have never registered for the voters ID.

The exercise begun on Tuesday 7th May 2024 in all MMDAs across the length and breadth of the
country and expected to end on the 27th of May 2024. Speaking to the Director of EC at Prestea Huni-Valley, he noted that the exercise is going on smoothly as at day two without any major issues, he made us known that there was minor issue nationwide which was quickly addressed by the commission.

He again said, the first day of the registration started at 12pm and sixty-nine people were
registered and issued with ID cards, that’s those who came to the center the first day were all
registered successfully.

He added that, the only thing which is slowing the process is the guarantor system, this is because an applicant needs two guarantors before he/she can be qualified to be registered and also the two guarantors must fill guarantor’s forms which may take some minutes to complete, again most of the registrants comes there without the required document and in such situations they must wait to see a relative around before they can go through the registration process and get registered.

The required documents for the registration are Ghana Card, Valid Passport and Guarantor
System.
